The Flame: Online Storytelling and Music
Award-winning actor and one of the creators of Mom’s the Word, Deborah Williams, is bringing the hit storytelling event, The Flame, back to the Belfry on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 7 pm.

The Flame is a storytelling series that features real people, sharing their personal true stories in front of a live audience. Since its inception in 2009, The Flame has flourished and grown into a wildly popular event that has packed venues in Vancouver and Victoria.

4th Line Theatre Online Storytelling Workshop
4th Line Theatre kicked off their 30th Anniversary season, with a storytelling workshop with renowned Vancouver-based storyteller and writer Deb Williams. Williams last worked with 4th Line Theatre directing the 2018 production of Ian McLachlan and Robert Winslow’s Crow Hill: A Telephone Play.
The online storytelling workshop ran over two days - Saturday, January 22 and Sunday, January 23, 2022. In this weekend intensive, Williams shared decades of storytelling expertise with a group of participants. Following the weekend-long workshop, participants were welcomed to read and tell their stories in a virtual event via Zoom, which were live streamed on 4th Line Theatre’s YouTube channel on Friday, January 28, 2022.

The Flame: Home @ Chutzpah! Festival
The Flame artistic director Deborah Williams hosted a special edition for Chutzpah! Festival 2021 with a group of Jewish storytellers such as Stephen Aberle, Glenda Zenoff, Eleanor Lipov, Helen Schniederman, Avi Dolgin, Amanda Malul, and a special guest appearance from Jessica and special musical guest Anton Lipovetsky. This warm and welcoming event will bring laughter, tears, and the joy of coming together as a community to share our stories. A public storytelling workshop will take place prior to the event, with an opportunity for students to take part in the storytelling evening

The Flame: Hope Springs Eternal Edition
Tune in for a night of uplifting stories filled with the fresh hope of spring from a variety of accomplished, local storytellers, hosted by award-winning actor and one of the creators of Mom's the Word, Deborah Williams. The Flame is a sold-out monthly storytelling event, celebrating its 12th season. Well-known in the Vancouver storytelling community for being a sizzling storytelling series, The Flame features personal, true stories: shared with a live audience.
